Blessd faces new charges as Colombian prosecutors drop kidnapping accusation

The Colombian Prosecutor's Office has modified the charges against singer Stiven Mesa Londoño, known as Blessd, in a legal case originating in Medellín in 2022. The prosecution has withdrawn the charge of extortive kidnapping, which previously carried a minimum sentence of 320 months.

Blessd and other defendants will now face charges of illegal constraint, intimidation or threat with a non-lethal weapon, and abusive access to a computer system. The legal shift follows judicial analysis and a judge's determination that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the victim, Andrés Felipe Sánchez Quintero, was deprived of his liberty against his will.

The incident involved an alleged confrontation at a recording studio regarding the commercial use of an Ozuna impersonator's image. Following the reformulation of the charges, the court denied any precautionary detention measures, allowing Blessd to remain free while the investigation proceeds.
