Blinkit introduces fee for non-emergency ambulance services

Quick commerce platform Blinkit has introduced a flat fee of Rs 2,500 for non-emergency ambulance bookings in India. Emergency medical transfers will continue to be provided free of charge.

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Eternal, stated the decision aims to ensure that fully equipped ambulances and paramedics remain available for critical, life-saving situations. The company reported that over the last two years, the service has handled approximately 42,000 cases, including nearly 20,000 emergency runs, all of which were provided for free.

According to Goyal, a significant number of bookings have been for routine purposes, such as doctor consultations, regular check-ups, and hospital-to-home transfers, which could be managed via private transport or ride-sharing services. The revenue generated from the new non-emergency fee will be directed to the Eternal Foundation to support the expansion and enhancement of the ambulance service.
