Blitar authorities monitor drought and flooding risks

Authorities in Blitar are managing dual weather challenges as the region transitions between seasons. In Blitar Regency, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) remains on alert for drought despite recent rainfall. Officials noted that rain has not been uniform across all areas and may not immediately restore depleted water sources. The BPBD continues to distribute clean water to residents facing shortages and is coordinating with local village governments to monitor needs.

Simultaneously, Blitar City is experiencing localized flooding and water accumulation on roads and in residential areas during heavy rainfall. The BPBD reported that existing drainage infrastructure is struggling to handle high-intensity runoff due to limited inlet capacity. While officials stated that most puddles recede quickly, they identified illegal drainage closures and spatial planning violations in areas like Plosokerep and Jalan Kenari as contributing factors to the overflow.
