Blitz band to be the subject of new fiction feature film

ELO Studios and Produtora Viralata have announced the development of a fiction feature film centered on the formation and rise of the Brazilian rock band Blitz. Directed by Paulo Fontenelle, the film will be written by L. G. Bayão and Evandro Mesquita.

Set in Rio de Janeiro in 1981, the narrative follows Evandro Mesquita during a period of uncertainty following the dissolution of the theatrical group Asdrúbal Trouxe o Trombone. The plot depicts how a performance opportunity led Mesquita to collaborate with Ricardo Barreto and other musicians, creating a unique blend of rock, theater, and humor.

The film will focus on the friendship between Mesquita and Barreto, exploring how their bond navigated the pressures of fame, professional disputes, and personal changes. It will also highlight the creative contributions of Patricya Travassos to the group’s theatrical language and the cultural atmosphere of Ipanema that shaped the band.
