Blizzard adds ‘Kyle’s Gone Missing!’ quest to World of Warcraft: Forever

Blizzard has added the ‘Kyle’s Gone Missing!’ quest to World of Warcraft: Forever. Although the game aims to preserve the original ‘vanilla’ experience, developers decided to include this specific piece of history following player requests on community forums.

The quest was originally introduced in 2007 during the Burning Crusade expansion as part of a Make-a-Wish campaign for Ezra Chatterton, a player known as Ephoenix who had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Chatterton provided the voice for the quest-giver, Ahab Wheathoof, and the mission involves players searching for his dog, Kyle.

Chatterton passed away in October 2008 at the age of 12. Blizzard acknowledged that while the quest does not strictly adhere to the ‘vanilla-only’ ethos of the Forever version, they chose to include it because of its sentimental value and its origins as a Make-a-Wish addition.
