Blizzard announces Diablo V and new StarCraft at BlizzCon 2026
At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard Entertainment announced several major upcoming projects, including a teaser for Diablo V, slated for a 2029 release, and a new narrative-focused, open-world first-person shooter StarCraft, expected in 2030.
Other key announcements included World of Warcraft: Forever, a new way to play the franchise that beta testers have described as feeling like a “WoW 2,” and a new campaign for Warcraft III: Reforged titled “Forsaken Kingdom.” Additionally, Blizzard revealed a Diablo animated series in development at Netflix and a new playable hero, Xal’atath, for Heroes of the Storm.
Addressing the long lead times for these announcements, Blizzard President Johanna Faries stated the company aims to “transmit confidence” in its major future bets. This strategy follows Blizzard's acquisition by Microsoft and comes amid broader industry shifts and workforce reductions at Xbox.
