Blizzard confirms StarCraft shooter will not be Xbox exclusive
Blizzard Entertainment has clarified that its upcoming StarCraft title, an open-world shooter set in the Koprulu Sector, will not be an Xbox exclusive when it launches in 2030. Following the game's reveal at BlizzCon 2026, a spokesperson informed Kotaku that classifying the project as an Xbox exclusive would be incorrect, though the company declined to provide a definitive list of supported platforms.
While the franchise has historically been centered on PC, Blizzard has remained strategically vague regarding other hardware. The studio has not officially confirmed whether the game will be available on PlayStation, Nintendo platforms, or other ecosystems, though the non-exclusivity statement suggests support for at least one additional platform beyond the Microsoft ecosystem.
The new title represents a significant genre shift for the series, moving from traditional real-time strategy to an open-world shooter format. Given the 2030 release window, industry analysts note that the game will likely target next-generation hardware that may not yet be fully established in the current market.
