Blizzard Entertainment launches Hearthstone expansion Reign of the Black Empire

Blizzard Entertainment has released 'Reign of the Black Empire', a new expansion for its digital strategy card game Hearthstone. The update introduces 135 collectible cards and features the return of the Old Gods: C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, N’Zoth, and Y’Shaarj. Each Old God is a neutral Legendary card with four unique abilities that can be used per turn, though decks are limited to one Old God each.

The expansion introduces the 'Assemble' keyword, which allows players to customize minions by selecting from a set list of other units to alter card text. Additionally, 'Titanforged' cards have been added as tools to counter the forces of the Black Empire.

A new campaign titled 'Journey' is available through the Hearthstone Journal, integrating story elements, quests, and rewards. The first chapter, 'Path to Ny'alotha', will unlock new content weekly over a seven-week period. An accompanying event exploring the capital of the Black Empire is scheduled to run from the launch date through November 11, offering rewards such as the 'Ritual N'Zoth' Warlock hero skin.
