Blizzard Entertainment prepares launch of World of Warcraft: Forever
Blizzard Entertainment is preparing for the November 4 launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, a new version of its MMORPG that returns to the first year of Azeroth. The game features new zones, over 1,000 unique quests, and a new playable race, while maintaining a level cap of 60.
During the beta phase, senior game designer Josh Greenfield reported seeing some of the highest engagement numbers in his 17-year career at Blizzard. While the current beta limits players to level 30, players have already begun exploring the full map. One player, “awrfyu_”, successfully mapped out the entirety of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, despite suffering 438 character deaths due to the high difficulty of high-level areas.
Executive producer Holly Longdale and associate production director Clay Stone indicated that the future direction of the game remains open, as developers intend to integrate player feedback following the official release.
