Blizzard launches Planet Azeroth nature documentary parody
Blizzard has released a new promotional miniseries titled ‘Planet Azeroth’ to build anticipation for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Forever. The series uses a nature documentary format to explore the game's fantasy world, featuring British comedian Bill Bailey as the narrator.
In the first episode, Bailey adopts a style reminiscent of classic BBC wildlife series to describe various creatures and environments. The footage covers iconic locations such as Elwynn Forest, Durotar, and Tirisfal, highlighting inhabitants like wolves, boars, Murlocs, and Kobolds. The series also touches upon the unique behaviors and ideologies of these creatures, such as the Kobolds' obsession with protecting their candles.
Executive Producer Holly Longdale noted that the campaign aims to allow players to view the world they have loved for over 20 years through a new lens. This marketing effort follows a tradition of Blizzard using celebrity figures for game promotion, though this installment focuses on format parody and comedic narration. A total of three episodes are planned for the series.
