World of Warcraft: Forever beta faces server issues at launch

Blizzard Entertainment has launched the beta phase for World of Warcraft: Forever, a new persistent MMORPG experience designed to serve as a third pillar alongside the modern Retail and Classic versions of the franchise. The project aims to reimagine the original Azeroth with updated visuals, new zones, and reworked class mechanics while maintaining the community-focused design of the original game.

The beta launch, which began on September 17, 2026, has faced significant technical challenges. Players have reported massive login queues lasting over an hour, frequent disconnections, and high latency, particularly for users in Europe. Blizzard has acknowledged these issues on social media, stating they are working to increase capacity and resolve final server issues.

Access to the beta is available through specific digital bundles, such as the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection, or via limited invitation codes. The beta is scheduled to run until October 21, 2026, ahead of the full game launch on November 4, 2026. A roadmap for the upcoming year includes new raids, dungeons, and a Hardcore mode scheduled through 2027.
