Blizzard launches podcast and major updates for World of Warcraft: Forever beta
Blizzard Entertainment has launched the first episode of the ‘World of Warcraft: Forever’ podcast, featuring developers Josh Greenfield and Tim Jones alongside community creators Countdown To Classic and Xaryu. The series aims to provide direct insight into the development of the game and its reimagined Azeroth.
Following the first week of the ‘World of Warcraft: Forever’ beta, developers have released a major update addressing bug fixes, class balancing, and user interface improvements. The initial beta phase introduced the Skyborne race, the Zephras Isle starter zone, and two new dungeons: Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron. Players also experienced new social features like camping and realm-less server infrastructure.
In the upcoming second phase of the beta, the level cap will increase from 20 to 30, unlocking new talents, class abilities, and the Darkspear Islands battleground. Additionally, a new ‘Legacy System’ has been introduced, allowing players to earn points through achievements to provide account-wide bonuses for secondary characters.
Blizzard has also addressed community conduct, noting that while some players faced forced name changes for inappropriate character names, extreme violations have resulted in removals from the beta. Senior game producer Tom Ellis clarified that moderation is a human-led process and not purely automated.
