Blizzard releases Warcraft III: Reforged expansion Forsaken Kingdom

Blizzard Entertainment has released Forsaken Kingdom, a major new campaign expansion for Warcraft III: Reforged, via a shadow-drop at BlizzCon 2026. The expansion offers over 30 hours of gameplay, featuring a prologue titled ‘The Last Days of Lordaeron’ and a three-act main campaign that utilizes a soft-open-world RPG structure. The narrative focuses on the fall of Lordaeron and the rise of the Undercity, featuring key characters such as Sylvanas Windrunner and Arthas.

Alongside the expansion, Blizzard released Patch 3.0, which includes a free update for all existing owners. This update introduces a ‘Definitive Edition’ graphics mode, improvements to the World Editor, and a new neutral hero, the Forsaken Paladin. However, the update has faced criticism for implementing an always-online requirement for single-player play and removing local area network (LAN) functionality, though a legacy client remains available.

Blizzard also announced broader franchise updates, including World of Warcraft: Forever, a new way to experience the MMO scheduled for November 2026, and a new StarCraft title described as an open-world shooter set in the Koprulu Sector, which is expected to release around 2030.
