Bloc Party Releases 'Now We Can't Be Friends' Ahead of New Album

British indie rock band Bloc Party has released the new track “Now We Can't Be Friends” from their forthcoming seventh studio album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance. The song is accompanied by a lyric video and will be part of the album due out on 11 September.

The album, produced by veteran Trevor Horn and issued as the first release on the newly formed cOnTAGIOUS LTD label under Virgin Music Group, is described by front‑man Kele Okereke as highly personal, with every lyric drawn from his own experiences. Okereke says the record “covers breakup, desire and a new sense of responsibility,” and marks the group's first full‑length effort since 2022’s Alpha Games. The 14‑track listing includes songs such as “Coming On Strong,” “Love Bombs,” and “Eulogy.”
