XRP sees rising institutional demand and ETF inflows
The cryptocurrency market is seeing significant institutional movement, particularly regarding XRP. US-based spot XRP ETFs have reported eleven consecutive weeks of net inflows, with recent weekly inflows reaching $75.59 million. Total net assets for XRP ETFs reached an all-time high of $1.77 billion in the third quarter, representing an 80% increase. Additionally, Exchange Listed Funds Trust has filed documents with the SEC for a hybrid ETF that would combine the S&P 500 index with XRP.
Parallel to these capital market developments, blockchain technology is being integrated into established financial processes. Companies like BlackRock and Ondo Finance are introducing tokenized portfolio strategies, while IBM and Swift are testing tokenized bank deposits.
Despite the growth, the sector faces challenges. Recent security incidents include a hack of D'CENT wallets involving 12.4 million XRP and a Bitget attack resulting in approximately $387.5 million in stolen assets, including significant amounts of XRP and Ether. On the technical side, the XRP Ledger is undergoing updates to address security vulnerabilities in bundled transactions.
