Colombian peso hits six‑year low as US dollar falls below $3,300

The US dollar weakened sharply against the Colombian peso, breaking the 3,300 COP support level and closing at 3,287.60 COP – the lowest rate seen since January 2020. The slide of roughly 52 COP was driven by heavy institutional selling and a broader oversold technical picture, while the global DXY index fell 0.13 % to 100.86.

The move occurred amid continued pressure on emerging‑market currencies despite easing geopolitical tensions. International oil prices also retreated, with Brent slipping to US$75.70 a barrel, supporting the peso’s rally. After four consecutive days of declines, the dollar later closed higher, indicating short‑term volatility in the Colombian foreign‑exchange market.
