Bloco de Esquerda files criminal complaint after Évora headquarters burglary attempt

The Bloco de Esquerda political party has filed a criminal complaint with the Polícia Judiciária following an attempted burglary at its district headquarters in Évora. The incident, which occurred late last week, left the building's door and frame damaged.

Party officials described the event as part of an “intolerable escalation of violence and hatred” in Portuguese society. This marks the fourth attempted burglary at the location, following previous incidents including an attempted roof assault and the destruction of property and political propaganda.

District leader Maria Helena Figueiredo noted that far-right and neo-Nazi propaganda stickers, featuring the slogan “Remigration - Portugal is for the Portuguese,” were also affixed to the headquarters' door last week. Investigators and scientific experts from the Polícia Judiciária have processed the scene, but the perpetrators have not yet been identified.
