Bloco de Esquerda urges government support for Visão magazine sale

The Bloco de Esquerda (BE) party has called on the Portuguese government to support the immediate sale of the magazine Visão to prevent its closure by the end of the year. BE deputy Fabian Figueiredo addressed the Ministers of Finance, Presidency, and Labor, arguing that the State, as the largest creditor of the owner company Trust in News (TiN), should facilitate a sale that ensures the publication's continuity.

Visão is currently being maintained by a group of journalists who raised over 200,000 euros through a fundraising campaign to form a company to purchase the title. Despite rising newsstand sales and recent industry recognition, the sale has been stalled following a Supreme Court of Justice ruling in March that approved TiN's insolvency plan. This plan involves paying debts to the State in 150 monthly installments and a 1.5 million euro injection from owner Luís Delgado.
