Bloemendaal officials decline to halt luxury bungalow construction
The Bloemendaal municipal executive has decided not to intervene in the construction of luxury bungalows at the Marinaparken holiday park in Vogelenzang. Despite opposing advice from the objections committee, the executive maintains that the new recreational homes fall under the category of “plaatsgebonden kampeermiddel” (site-bound camping equipment), which is permitted under the current zoning plan.
Alderman Thessa van der Windt explained that the 2013 zoning plan allows for such structures, including caravans, chalets, and holiday homes, to accommodate camping operators. The executive stated that the total building area remains within the permitted limit of 1,600 square meters.
The decision has sparked significant local tension. During a crowded council meeting requested by political parties Zelfstandig Bloemendaal, PRO Bloemendaal, and Liberaal Bloemendaal, members moved to demand immediate enforcement against the construction. Opponents argue the new ownership is exploiting regulations to maximize development, while the executive awaits a final decision on August 25.
