Bloemfontein to host MACUFE and Lemo Fest in 2026

Bloemfontein is hosting two major cultural events in 2026. The Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE), an established platform for African arts and heritage since 1997, is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 13, 2026. The festival aims to promote cultural tourism and support the local creative economy through various disciplines, including music, theatre, dance, and visual arts.

Additionally, Lemo Fest will be held from October 9 to 11, 2026, at Lemo Green Park in Heidedal. Established in 2023, Lemo Fest features themed days including ‘Lovers & Friends’ on Friday, ‘Afro Soul & Jazz’ on Saturday, and a ‘Gospel Experience’ on Sunday. The festival serves as a significant cultural event for the city, following the rescheduling of MACUFE to September.
