Blois: Father suspected of killing 5-year-old daughter before attempting suicide

A five-year-old girl was found dead at her father's home in Blois on Monday evening. According to the Blois prosecutor, Stéphane Javet, the father is believed to have killed the child before attempting suicide by inflicting multiple knife wounds upon himself.

The father, born in 1984, was discovered in critical medical condition and transported to the Blois hospital. While his condition was reported as not life-threatening as of Tuesday, an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact circumstances of the child's death.

The parents had been separated since 2024 and reportedly maintained difficult relations. A judicial measure for educational assistance (AEMO) had previously been ordered to monitor the family's situation. Authorities were alerted by the mother after the child failed to arrive at school.
