Bloober Team hires former Dying Light director Tymon Smektala

Tymon Smektala, the former franchise director for the Dying Light series at Techland, has joined the Polish studio Bloober Team. Smektala will serve as the executive director of Broken Mirror Games, a new publishing division established by Bloober Team to collaborate with external studios on horror game development.

Smektala expressed an ambition to discover unconventional independent developers with strong visions, suggesting the division aims to find creators who could become “the next Kojima.” The goal is to identify small-scale projects with unique perspectives and provide them with the expertise and resources necessary to scale their impact within the horror genre.

Broken Mirror Games is already working on several upcoming titles, including Saw: Genesis and the Switch 2-exclusive Onyx. Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno noted that the studio's vision focuses on horror that reflects societal fears and questions, complementing the company's existing portfolio which includes Silent Hill 2 remake and Layers of Fear.
