Blood donation campaigns held in Carambeí and Canela
Local health initiatives in Brazil have focused on blood collection to support regional medical needs. In Carambeí, a partnership with Hemepar organized a collection at the Nova Holanda Basic Health Unit. The initiative aimed for a minimum of 80 blood bags, with a specific emphasis on the need for O negative and A positive blood types.
In Canela, a campaign held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints successfully collected 114 blood bags. These donations are directed to the Regional Hemocenter of Caxias do Sul (Hemocs), which serves the Unified Health System (SUS) across 49 municipalities in the Northeast region of Rio Grande do Sul. Organizers in Canela plan to hold another campaign in April 2027 with a target of 120 bags.
