Blood donation drives launched in Spain and Peru

The Centro de Transfusión, Tejidos y Células in Cádiz, Spain, will hold a series of summer blood donation sessions at the Bahía Sur shopping centre in San Fernando, with the first event on 10 July and additional dates through September. The initiative, part of an Andalusian health campaign, aims to keep hospital blood reserves sufficient during the holiday season when donations typically fall.

In Piura, Peru, EsSalud’s regional health network will conduct a voluntary blood‑donation campaign on 13‑14 July at the Hospital III José Cayetano Heredia. Organisers say about 200 units are needed to meet demand, especially for oncology, renal patients, and major surgeries, and they stress that a single donation can save up to three lives.
