Blood donation drives organized in Croatia and Serbia
The Split-Dalmatia Police Department in Croatia is holding an emergency blood‑donation campaign on 1 July 2026, from 08:00 to 14:00 at the Special and Intervention Police Unit premises in Mravince. Police officers are urging citizens to donate, noting that the tourist season has increased demand for blood supplies at Split Hospital. In 2025 the police‑run club collected 891 units of blood, added 24 new members and saw a rise in female donors.
In Belgrade, Serbia, the Institute for Blood Transfusion and the EU Delegation are holding a voluntary blood‑donation event on 2 July 2026, from 11:00 to 16:00 at the European House (corner of Knez Mihailova and Zmaj Jovina). The drive is part of a nationwide summer campaign aimed at securing the roughly 1,000 units of blood needed daily across the country, which often fall to a one‑day reserve during summer months. Eligible donors are healthy adults aged 18‑65.
Both campaigns stress solidarity and the critical role of each donation in supporting patients undergoing surgery, childbirth, cancer treatment, transplants and other urgent medical procedures.
