Blood donation drives scheduled in Austria and Bavaria for August

The Austrian Red Cross is running a series of blood‑donation appointments throughout August 2026 in Graz, offering slots at venues such as the JUFA Hotel, the Technical University, the Red Cross regional centre and the city hall. Around 50,000 blood units are needed each year in Styria, and the campaign relies on volunteers to meet that demand.

In Bavaria, the Bavarian Red Cross is also arranging numerous donation sessions during the summer holidays, stressing the importance of filling the supply gap caused by high temperatures and vacation travel. The organization has launched a digital “Spenderservice 2.0” app that provides a personal dashboard, automated reminders, a digital donor card and streamlined appointment management to attract and retain donors, especially younger participants.
