Blood donation drives start in Croatia and Serbia
In Croatia, the Koprivnica branch of the Red Cross, together with the Croatian Institute for Transfusion Medicine, began a series of voluntary blood‑donation actions to mark World Blood Donor Day. The events run from 15 June to 19 June at the Red Cross premises on Herešinska 33 and at the Dr. Tomislav Bardek Hospital in Koprivnica.
In Serbia, the Institute for Transfusion Medicine and the Serbian Red Cross launched the 22nd summer blood‑donation campaign, running until 31 August. More than 40 cities and municipalities will host over 350 collection actions, aiming to alleviate critically low reserves of several blood groups. The campaign’s slogan is “Ovog leta ostavi trag koji traje” and includes promotion of donor registries for stem cells and platelet donation. Mobile collection units and fixed sites are scheduled across locations such as Požarevac, Smederevo, Barajevo, Lazarevac, Obrenovac and others.
