Blood donation drives urged in Croatia and Serbia as summer demand rises

In Croatia, the national transfusion service says current blood stocks are stable but cautions that the summer tourism season, increased road traffic and potential accidents could sharply raise demand. Director Irena Jukić highlighted the need for donors, especially for RhD‑negative and O‑negative units, noting that a single large‑scale incident could deplete supplies.

In Serbia, the Institute for Blood Transfusion released an updated schedule of donation sites and operating hours in Belgrade, Koceljeva, and Petrovac na Mlavi, including nearby bus routes. Healthy adults aged 18‑65 may donate after a medical check, helping to meet the heightened need for blood products during the busy season.
