Blood transfusion centers in Romania issue urgent donation appeals

Medical authorities in Romania are calling for urgent blood donations as stocks reach critical levels. The Bistrița Blood Transfusion Center has reported that supplies for all blood groups are currently critical. The center serves hospitals within the Bistrița-Năsăud county and distributes to medical units nationwide as needed.

In Maramureș, the Sighetu Marmației Municipal Hospital, in collaboration with the Maramureș Blood Transfusion Center, is organizing a donation campaign to support patients in urgent need of transfusions.

Donors must generally be between 18 and 60 years old and meet specific health criteria, including weight requirements and the absence of recent surgeries, tattoos, or certain medical conditions. In Bistrița, donors receive meal vouchers valued at 280 lei and a paid day off from work.
