Bloom Energy stock climbs on analyst upgrades and institutional buying
Bloom Energy Corp.'s shares jumped about 9% on Monday, reaching $275.13 after climbing to a intraday high of $283.62. Several Wall Street analysts lifted their price targets, including Wells Fargo to $217, Robert W. Baird to $242, Roth MKM to $225, Barclays to $276 and UBS to $322.
The company reported first‑quarter earnings that beat expectations, posting $0.44 earnings per share versus the consensus estimate of $0.12 and revenue of $751.05 million, well above the forecast of $539.94 million and up 130.4% year‑over‑year. The earnings beat and strong revenue growth helped drive the share price surge.
Institutional investors added to the buying pressure. Janney Montgomery Scott raised its Bloom Energy stake by 147.4% to 115,891 shares valued at roughly $15.7 million. Other investors such as Blue Trust, WPG Advisers, Hantz Financial Services and Godsey & Gibb also increased their holdings. At the same time, insiders sold shares: former chairman John T. Chambers off‑loaded 55,000 shares at an average of $297.69, generating a $16.4 million proceeds, while earlier insider trades by Aman Josh and Satish Chitoori accounted for additional sales totaling over $58 million in the past three months.
