Bloom film explores deadly horticultural secrets

The film Bloom, directed by Stefan Colson, follows Lily (Meghan Carrasquillo), a woman who inherits a flower business and a small fortune from her late great-aunt. Upon returning to her hometown, Lily discovers a mysterious horticultural secret involving the Jack Rabbit Plant Nursery.

As Lily cultivates flowers known as ‘scarlet widows,’ she finds they possess an entrancing scent and high market value, but they also appear to have addictive and deadly properties. The narrative explores themes of addiction and the consequences of using blood to nourish the plants. While reviews note some uneven performances and pacing issues, Carrasquillo’s portrayal of Lily’s descent into a manic state is highlighted as a standout element of the film.
