Bloomberg Acquires AI Platform Canoe Intelligence to Expand Private‑Markets Data

Bloomberg announced a definitive agreement to acquire Canoe Intelligence, an artificial‑intelligence‑driven data‑management platform that automates the collection and delivery of private‑markets information. The deal, disclosed on July 29, positions Bloomberg to deepen its offering for institutional investors, wealth managers and family offices by integrating Canoe’s capabilities with Bloomberg’s existing public‑markets tools.

Canoe, founded in 2018 and based in New York, processes roughly 1.5 million documents each month from more than 44 000 private funds, serving over 500 institutions that collectively manage about $11 trillion in assets. The acquisition adds AI‑powered document extraction and portfolio‑ready insights to Bloomberg’s suite, which already covers millions of private companies, tens of thousands of funds and thousands of direct loans. Bloomberg CEO Vlad Kliatchko highlighted the move as a response to growing demand for transparent, unified data across the $15‑22 trillion private‑markets sector.
