Bloomberg Philanthropies funds youth climate projects in Argentina and Chile
Municipalities in Argentina and Chile have launched youth-led climate action initiatives funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies.
In General Pico, Argentina, the 'Misión Clima GP' program invites residents aged 15 to 24 to submit environmental and community projects. Selected proposals can receive up to $5,000 for implementation. The initiative aims to align youth participation with the city’s Local Climate Action Plan. Applications are open until September 8, and participants must be represented by a legally registered institution.
In Valparaíso, Chile, the municipality has launched the 'Fondo Juventud y Acción Climática 2026'. This project, coordinated by the Directorate of the Environment, offers funding ranging from 2.5 million to 4.5 million pesos to youth aged 15 to 24. Valparaíso is one of 300 municipalities worldwide to benefit from this Bloomberg Philanthropies funding. The program seeks to provide young people with tools to address climate change and contribute to the city’s climate resilience and action plans.
