Bloomington police investigate shooting near Indiana University

A 19-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in downtown Bloomington, Indiana, early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 1:07 a.m. in the 300 block of East Kirkwood Avenue, near the Indiana University campus.

Witnesses reported that an argument broke out between two men near the intersection of East Kirkwood Avenue and North Lincoln Street. During the altercation, one man allegedly drew a handgun and fired a single shot. The bullet struck the exterior brick facade of an Old National Bank branch. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a blue or gray sedan.

While police found blood and personal belongings at the scene, the victim arrived at IU Health Bloomington Hospital via private vehicle with gunshot wounds to his neck and shoulder. Investigators noted that the victim has declined to cooperate or provide information regarding the shooter. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains active.
