Blossoms reach number one on UK Official Albums Chart

The indie rock band Blossoms has reached the top of the UK Official Albums Chart for the fifth time with their sixth studio album, ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’. The Stockport-based group’s achievement marks a decade of commercial success since their debut.

In the mid-week charts, Blossoms found themselves positioned between legendary acts, with The Beatles’ ‘Rubber Soul’ reissue at number two on the vinyl charts and Johnny Marr’s ‘The Age Of Everything’ debuting at number five. Frontman Tom Ogden noted the significance of being ranked alongside musical icons from Liverpool and Manchester.

Ogden described the new album as a reflection on marriage and the ‘extraordinary ordinary’ aspects of daily life. The title is a reference to Stockport Town Hall, locally known as the ‘Wedding Cake’, where Ogden was married.
