European Athletics Championships: Bloudek wins silver and Čeh defends discus title

At the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, several notable performances took place. Croatian athlete Marino Bloudek secured a silver medal in the 800 metres with a time of 1:45.62. The gold medal was won by Ireland's Mark English, who finished in 1:45.26. Bloudek, a former football prospect, achieved this milestone following a strong tactical performance in the final.

In the men's discus throw, Slovenian athlete Kristjan Čeh successfully defended his European title. Čeh set a new championship record with a throw of 72.51 metres in the third round. Mykolas Alekna of Lithuania took the silver medal with a throw of 69.89 metres, while Germany's Henrik Janssen earned the bronze with 69.53 metres.
