Blue Ant acquires global rights to Alec Baldwin documentary

Blue Ant Media has acquired the U.S. and international licensing rights for ‘The Trial of Alec Baldwin’, a feature-length documentary directed by Rory Kennedy. The film will be introduced to broadcasters and streaming platforms at MIPCOM this October.

The documentary follows actor Alec Baldwin through the legal and personal aftermath of the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film ‘Rust’. It examines the media scrutiny, public perception, and the legal proceedings that followed the incident, in which a prop gun discharged a live round.

The project includes unseen behind-the-scenes footage captured starting in spring 2023. The documentary follows Baldwin's experience through a highly publicized trial that was ultimately dismissed by a New Mexico judge in July 2024 due to the withholding of evidence by prosecutors. The film is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release via Abramorama on October 1.
