Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Signs Long-Term Deal with Michigan Medicine

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Michigan Medicine have agreed to a new long‑term contract that will keep the university’s academic medical center and its affiliated facilities, clinics and physicians within the insurer’s network. The agreement, reached ahead of a June 30 renewal deadline, will be finalized in the coming weeks, with the final terms remaining proprietary.

Blue Cross CEO Tricia A. Keith said the deal “ensures continued access … while advancing the affordability of care and coverage.” Michigan Medicine CEO David Miller expressed gratitude that the contract “ensures continued access for our patients and for Blue Cross members across the state to world‑class care.” BCBSM provides health benefits to more than 4.7 million Michigan members, while Michigan Medicine operates 12 hospitals and hundreds of clinics.

The contract is expected to preserve network status for Michigan residents who rely on both organizations for medical services and insurance coverage.
