Blue Eagles take top spot in FDH Bank Premiership

Blue Eagles have ascended to the top of the FDH Bank Premiership standings following a 2-1 victory over Mighty Wanderers at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe. This win marks the first time the Malawi Police Service-sponsored club has led the league since 2016.

Fahard Mcheka opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 21st minute by converting a rebound after a corner kick. Tonic Viyuyi doubled the lead in the 31st minute with a header from a Micium Mhone cross. Despite the loss, Mighty Wanderers remain in third place with 30 points, just one point behind the leaders.

The match concluded the first round of the league season. The victory provides a significant boost for Blue Eagles, who now hold 31 points, while Mighty Wanderers look to recover from recent setbacks, including a heavy aggregate defeat in the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
