Blue Giant: Jordan Prosser explores Mars colonization in new novel

Jordan Prosser’s second novel, Blue Giant, explores themes of Mars colonization and the desire to escape Earthly problems. The story follows Abby Horne, a Melbourne millennial who dreams of becoming a first settler on Mars through the MarsNow project, an initiative led by Danish billionaire Tor Skovgaard.

Unlike traditional hard science fiction, the novel focuses on the reality-TV style nature of the MarsNow project, where personality is prioritized over technical skills like aerospace engineering or survival training. The narrative tracks Abby’s journey as she trains alongside a co-conspirator named Oscar, while questioning the true nature of interplanetary colonization and the motives of the billionaires driving it.
