Blue House denies President Lee is receiving NEC special counsel reports

The Blue House has denied allegations that President Lee Jae-myung is receiving direct reports on the progress of the National Election Commission (NEC) special counsel investigation. The controversy arose after the President posted a photo of a daily situation report on social media to highlight achievements in combating voice phishing.

Rep. Joo Jin-woo of the People Power Party claimed that a partially obscured phrase at the bottom of the document, mentioning the NEC special counsel and ballot verification at the Olympic Park Handball Gymnasium, serves as evidence that the President is being briefed on the investigation. Joo characterized this as a potential violation of the special counsel's political neutrality and a constitutional issue.

The Blue House clarified that the document in question was a public safety report from the National Police Agency. According to officials, the text referred to the mitigation of potential friction with protesters following the postponement of ballot verification, rather than details of the special counsel's investigation. The administration expressed regret over the claims, stating the content was unrelated to the NEC special counsel's activities.
