Blue Moon appears over Vietnam on May 31, 2026

A second full moon in the same month, popularly called a "Blue Moon," will be visible over Vietnam on the night of 31 May 2026. Because the Moon will be near its farthest point from Earth (about 406,135 km), the event is also a "micromoon," making it the smallest full moon of the year. Astronomers refer to this rare combination as a "vi trăng hoa xanh," a phenomenon not expected to repeat until 2053. The Moon reaches its peak illumination at approximately 15:45 local time and can be observed throughout the night, appearing noticeably smaller when high in the sky compared with a typical full Moon.
