Blue Moon visible over Poland on May 31, 2026

A second full moon in May 2026, known as a “Blue Moon,” will occur on 31 May. Astronomers note that the lunar maximum will be at 10:45 CET, when the Moon is at apogee, making it a “micro‑moon” – about 5.5 % smaller and over 10 % dimmer than an average full moon. In Poland the Moon will rise low in the south‑western horizon after sunset, offering a good opportunity for naked‑eye viewing and photography against local landscapes. The event is a calendar rarity, happening roughly every 2.7 years, and does not involve any change in the Moon’s colour.
