Blue Nile State Governor targeted in drone attack

Sudanese authorities reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a drone attack targeting the residence of the Blue Nile State Governor, Ahmed Al-Umda, and several civilian properties in the city of Damazin.

Governor Al-Umda stated that the RSF utilized suicide drones in the strike. He noted that air defense forces intercepted the attack, though specific details regarding casualties or damage were not immediately disclosed. Al-Umda emphasized that the targeting would not deter efforts to defend the country against rebellion.

The attack occurs amid escalating military tension in Blue Nile State involving the RSF and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of approximately 13 million people.
