Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos signals potential future IPO

Jeff Bezos indicated that Blue Origin will likely pursue an initial public offering (IPO) in the coming years. The announcement follows a funding round in which the space company raised $10 billion from outside investors. While a specific timeline was not provided, Bezos stated that an IPO would likely occur several years from now.

Bezos also discussed his strategic vision for space exploration, emphasizing the necessity for the United States to beat China in the race to land humans on the moon. He expressed confidence that an American landing is possible by 2028, noting that Blue Origin and NASA are focused on establishing routine cargo deliveries to support a sustained lunar presence.

Regarding technical milestones, Bezos stated that Blue Origin aims to fly its New Glenn vehicle again in December of this year, following delays caused by a launch-pad explosion during a static-fire test in May. The company, which has received significant funding from Bezos personally, continues to secure major contracts with NASA and the US Space Force.
