Blue Origin unveils Power Tower solar system for lunar base

Blue Origin has unveiled the ‘Power Tower,’ a 20-meter-tall vertically deployed solar array system designed to provide more than 10 kilowatts of power for lunar south pole operations. The modular architecture is intended to support future surface networks and extend power to various lunar assets.

The technology appears to be an evolution of the Lunar Array Mast and Power System (LAMPS), developed by Blue Origin subsidiary Honeybee Robotics. This work aligns with NASA’s Vertical Solar Array Technology (VSAT) project, which aims to establish a sustained human presence on the moon.

Blue Origin demonstrated the deployment mechanism through a test conducted on Earth in July 2026. The system is expected to support NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to have a moon base operational by 2032.
