Blue Shield of California appoints Erin Brewer to Board of Directors

Blue Shield of California has appointed Erin Brewer to its Board of Directors. Brewer, a former Chief Financial Officer at Lyft and a strategic advisor, brings over 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, and operations across the healthcare, technology, and financial services sectors.

Her appointment is intended to support the nonprofit health plan’s goals regarding healthcare affordability, modernization of care delivery, and long-term financial stewardship. Brewer’s previous leadership roles include positions at Charles Schwab, Atlassian, and McKesson Corporation.

Pamela DeCoste, chair of the Blue Shield of California Board of Directors, stated that Brewer’s background in transforming complex organizations and her financial discipline will strengthen the board as the organization works toward making high-quality healthcare sustainably affordable.
