Blue Voice raises $6 million for AI-powered policing tool
Boston-based startup Blue Voice has raised $6 million in a funding round led by SignalFire and Las Olas VC. The company provides specialized artificial intelligence designed to assist law enforcement officers by providing real-time access to department-specific laws, municipal regulations, and operational protocols.
Founded by David Lawrence, Amit Patankar, and Michael Gropman, the platform aims to reduce operational errors caused by officers relying on memory or lengthy physical manuals. Unlike general-purpose language models, Blue Voice is trained on specific legal frameworks to ensure accuracy. The technology is currently utilized by 225 agencies across 25 U.S. states and includes features to assist detectives with cold cases.
Lawrence, a former Harvard Law student, noted that general AI models can deliver incorrect answers up to 30% of the time, emphasizing the need for a domain-specific assistant that prioritizes transparency and regulatory compliance.
