Blue Zoo Animation to produce Doctor Who preschool series for CBeebies

Blue Zoo Animation has been commissioned to produce a new Doctor Who animated series specifically for CBeebies and BBC iPlayer. This project marks the first time the franchise has been expanded into an animated series designed for a preschool audience.

Dominic Minns has been appointed as the series director and will also serve as the creative director at Blue Zoo. Minns brings extensive experience in children’s programming, having previously worked on titles such as Supertato, Mojo Swoptops, and the BAFTA-winning Tee and Mo.

The series is currently in production and is commissioned for 52 episodes of 11 minutes each, spanning two series. While the voice cast and specific title have not yet been disclosed, the production aims to translate the scale of the Doctor Who universe into a format that is relatable and funny for younger viewers.
