Blues concerts light up Alicante and Gondomar this weekend

The new blues and jazz cycle at Las Cigarreras cultural centre in Alicante opens with a free outdoor concert on Friday, featuring the Danny Boy Blues Band and guitarist Pablo Sanpa. The four‑date series, organized by Sociedad Blues Alicante and Societat Unió Musical d’Alcoi, showcases traditional Afro‑American blues styles and runs through August.

On Saturday, the Vargas Blues Band, led by Argentine guitarist Javier Vargas, will perform a free concert at Praza Paradela in Gondomar. The event, part of the Atlántico summer cultural programme and supported by the Xunta de Galicia, promotes Vargas’s latest album “Barrio Blues” and highlights his blend of electric blues, rock and Latin sounds.
